Another sneak peek of some completed project photos taken by architectural photographer Dan Paton! This late 1960s detached house was in a seriously poor state, having been left empty and neglected for many years. There was evidence of water ingress and rotten floor joists, which meant the house needed a complete renovation. A perfect opportunity for our clients to strip the house back, extend it for their growing family, and carry out a deep retrofit to create a highly efficient and super comfortable home.

Given the ample width of the house and relatively short garden, we extended full-width at the rear. This created more generous and flexible space for living / working / practising music, along with two additional bedrooms and a shower room. A new bay window overlooks the garden with the church and mature trees beyond. Meanwhile, the whole fabric of the existing house was insulated and made airtight, including high performance triple glazed windows, and ventilated well with continuous extraction.

As architects, we see the potential in existing buildings and what they can be transformed into. In particular, we specialise in low energy and ecological design, so get in touch if you have a project in mind.
