Net Zero: Retrofit in Practice! We attended this important event last week organised by Metis (SMS), held in the lush green setting of the Voco Oxford Spires Hotel. A number of key topics were covered including the energy transition, energy in school, the Government’s view on local energy importance, the local energy market alliance, and Oxfordshire County Council’s net zero plans. The national cost of retrofit to net zero is £250b and the general view is this will have to be funded by both public and private sectors.
In the public sector, Oxfordshire County Council leading the way on retrofit and climate action – its initiatives include Local Energy Oxfordshire (Project LEO), Cosy Homes Oxfordshire, Energy Saver App, Clean Heat Streets, 100 Together, OxLAEP (Local Area Energy Planning), Better Housing Better Health, and ZCOP (Zero Carbon Oxfordshire Partnership). We were particularly impressed with the Energy Saver App, which analyses your home smart meter data to offer personalised insights and help make informed choices about energy use and efficiency. It also offers the chance to be selected for a government-backed trial of solar PV panels and battery storage for a low monthly cost.
At Sow Space, we like to stay at the forefront of the retrofit industry by attending important events and workshops like this. Get in touch if you’d like to learn more about retrofit or have a project in mind.
